I'm pleased to announce the preliminary program details for the 2012 Midwinter CCPTP Meeting on February 10-11 (with preconference activities Thursday, 2/9).

The theme this year will involve "Best Practices in Training" with the goal of providing each of us with some practical tools to address the various tasks and challenges of our programs.  It will be a little different format than we typically have for our midwinter meeting--all participants will be able to attend and participate actively in all of the sessions.

The program committee has discussed a variety of topics, and here are some of our ideas so far:

·          Recruitment/Admissions Procedures and Strategies
·          Tools for Effectively Influencing Administrators
·          Dealing with Difficult/Troubled Students
·          Coping with the Demands of Accreditation (responding to the new IRs)
·          Curriculum Revisions—Creative ways to address competency/accreditation needs.
·          Internship Imbalance—practical ways programs can help students be more successful (mentoring programs with lower match rates)
·          Self care for DCTs

If you have other ideas or would like to be involved in facilitating a session on any of these topics, please contact me backchannel (chwalisz@siu.edu).

The meeting will be held in the Mayfair Hotel and Spa in Coconut Grove, FL (near Miami). The room rates are single $189/night and double $209/night.  There are a limited number of doubles available. Please book your room through our block (details to follow), as we need to book a certain number of rooms per our contract with the hotel.
